Movies can be placed within placeholder graphics or anywhere on a slide canvas. They can also be moved on and off a slide, or started and stopped when the presenter clicks, by using object builds. (For more details, see Creating Movie Builds.)
Drag a movie file from the Finder to the slide canvas or to a media placeholder.
Click Media in the toolbar, and then click Movies in the Media Browser. Select a file, and then drag it to the slide canvas or to a media placeholder.
Choose Insert > Choose, and then navigate to the movie file you want. Select it, and then click Insert. Drag the movie to where you want it on the slide canvas.
To learn about playing the movie during your slideshow, see Playing Movies.
To learn about further adjustments you can make to control movie presentation and playback, including setting the volume and poster frame, see Adjusting Media Playback Settings. To learn about what kinds of movie files you can use in a Keynote document, see Sound and Movie Types That Play in Keynote.
Also note that some media files are protected under copyright law. Some downloaded music may be played only on the computer where the download occurred. Make sure the computer you are using has permission to play all the media files included in your slideshow.
When you add media files to your slideshow, make sure that they will be available if you transfer your document to another computer. When saving your document, make sure to select “Copy audio and movies into document” in the Save window after you choose Save or Save As. (If you don’t see the option, click the disclosure triangle next to the field, and then click Advanced Options.)
